Tres leches cake is truly thee most moist cake on the planet! The whip cream frosting is a-mazing and the strawberries are a must have.

Tres leches translates in English as three milks…but four milks are actually used to make the cake. Simplicity always leads to greatness. So who’s ready to make a cake?

What is Tres Leches Cake?

Like we mentioned earlier, tres leches means three milks. So basically this cake got milk. And lots of it, which is why the Dulcet team loves it so much. Let me say it again, it’s incredibly moist and can accommodate a crowd. What’s not to love?

The Ingredients

The list of ingredients for this recipe is pretty straight forward. All you need is a nice sized glass Pyrex baking dish, staple pantry items, and a little patiences. Of course you’ll find below the key ingredients to this amazing cake.

  • Milk – What would this recipe be without all the milks? I’ll tell you a hot mess hahaha. As mentioned earlier this recipe using 4 different milks. And yes, you do need all four.
  • Flour – Traditionally this recipe uses all purpose flour, but the Dulcet Scintilla Staff does not always stick with tradition. So we used a combination of all purpose flour and cake flour. The cake flour provides more fluffiness due to its low protein content.
  • Eggs – The eggs in this recipe should be separated before using in this recipe. Whipping the egg whites adds an airy field to the cake and the egg yolks add color and richness.

Must Have Cake Toppings

In our opinion this tres leches cake only needs the bare minimal so below are the 3 ingredients we consider MUST HAVES!

  1. Whip Cream– This is a classic frosting to the tres leches cake. It’s light and tasty (when homemade).
  2. Berries – Adds a pop of color, exceptionally if strawberries when the stems are used.
  3. Cinnamon – Cuts on the sweetness and provides a cozy home vibe.
