It’s Story Time…

During the days of my veganism I tried a lot of different juices, smoothies, fruits, and vegetables. So, one time while grocery shopping at one my favs Whole Foods. I noticed a sale in the juice section and these cute little 2 oz. bottles were 2/$6. A better name for the little bottles are juice shots. With so many options I decided to buy the wheatgrass and ginger shots. Let’s just a make a long-story, short. Not to fond of ginger shots….but the wheatgrass shot was so tasty. It taste just like green tea. YUM!

Juicing vs. Blending

Both of these industries are doing pretty darn well in the United States. As you probably know fruits and vegetables are good for ya. The Department of Health and Human Services recommends that people eat at least 2.5 cups of vegetables and 2 cups of fruit per day. Consuming this amount on a daily basis will lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, and stroke. It’ll also help with managing your weight.

The main difference between juicing and blending is the amount of nutrients left after the process. When juicing the fibrous materials are left behind, leaving you with just the liquid components of the veggies and fruit. With blending, you get the fiber and the pulp from the produce.

Juicing Pros & Cons
  • Higher amounts of nutrients & vitamins
  • Easier for your body to absorb the nutrients.
  • Juicing can sometimes contain more sugar than a glass of soda.
  • Lacks fiber. (Fiber is essential for a healthy gut and blood sugar levels).
Blending Benefits
  • High fiber content which helps promote a healthy digestion.
  • Fills you up
  • Contains antioxidants

In the end, it’s completely up to you to make this recipe into a juice or smoothie.
